about us
A Bag for Flo, is a grassroots charity tackling period poverty with dignity, choice, and compassion. Our mission is simple: to ensure that anyone who menstruates can access free period products when facing financial hardship. No questions asked. No judgement. No limits.
We offer three core bags which include pads, tampons, or a mix, we also offer reusable options, as well as a postpartum specific bag called Bump to Birth and a new to periods bag called Hey Flo. We offer people a choice of what works best for them. Because dignity means having option, not just access.
We believe periods should be talked about openly and without shame. That’s why we avoid clinical terms like “sanitary” and use inclusive language that reflects the diversity of those who menstruate. At A Bag for Flo, we’re not just distributing products we’re building a movement that challenges stigma, fosters empathy, and puts choice and care at the heart of everything we do.

Our goals
Our goals align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring our work contributes to global priorities in health, education, equality, and reducing poverty
-
Aligned with UN SDG 1: No Poverty
We believe no one should have to choose between essential items and their next meal. By providing free period products, we reduce financial pressure on girls and families experiencing hardship. Our work ensures that menstruation never becomes a barrier to dignity, opportunity, or stability. -
Aligned with UN SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being
Access to safe, reliable period products is essential for physical and mental health. By distributing products and delivering menstrual health education, we help prevent infections, increase confidence, and create healthier communities where girls feel supported throughout their cycles. -
Aligned with UN SDG 5: Gender Equality
Period poverty is a gendered issue. By ensuring that girls have the products and knowledge they need, we empower them to participate fully in school, at home, and in their communities. Our work challenges stigma and helps create a fairer society where menstruation is not a source of shame. -
Aligned with UN SDG 4: Quality Education
Many girls miss school due to lack of menstrual products or understanding of their cycles. By providing free products and practical menstrual health workshops, we help keep girls in school, improve attendance, and give them the confidence to learn without disruption or embarrassment. -
Aligned with UN SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
Period poverty disproportionately affects girls from low-income, rural, or marginalised communities. Our work focuses on reaching those who need it most, ensuring equal access to hygiene products and education. By reducing these inequalities, we help create more inclusive and empowered communities.
